Original clay sewer lines require replacement

The first day we moved into the house (February 15), we had our first issue with the sewer lines.  The toilet in the master bath flooded the entire master bedroom. By our second week of occupancy, running any showers or flushing any toilets caused waste water to back up and flow out the drain of the guest bath shower.  Upon professional inspection we've learned the house still has its original clay sewer lines and that the lines are infested with tree roots at every joint.  We've been advised to replace the compromised sewer lines.  Probably better to have discovered this now versus waiting until we have a house full of guests.
